In June, 2017, Dato’ Ewe Swee Kheng was invited by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China to join the Cross-Border E-Commerce Workshop under China’s One Belt, One Road programme. It was an extensive 21-day affair. On August 22, 2017, Ewein Berhad established Ewein Ecommerce Sdn. Bhd. with an 89% equity interest and became one of the pioneer retailers of the Malaysia Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ). The DFTZ is built by China's Alibaba Group and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), with Alibaba’s founder Jack Ma serving as the Malaysian Government’s adviser. It is the world’s first digital free trade zone outside of China, with the first eFulfilment hub being built in KLIA Aeropolis and Satellite Services hub in Kuala Lumpur Internet City in Bandar Malaysia.
Ewein Ecommerce is engaged in a wide range of online ventures, including business-to-consumer marketing and distribution of Malaysian products including bird's nest, spices, cooking oil and coffee to the vast China market. Ewein Ecommerce’s software and mobile app developers are also incubating an umbrella of online systems that will supply manifold products and services to the Malaysian market.
